Now You Can Bail on Being ‘Wired & Tired’ - Even If You Used to Have Stellar Energy and Now You’re Struggling to Get Out of Bed

I’ll show you step-by-step, how to get your energy back… kick the brain fog… and reclaim your sleep… especially if you’re a busy Mom who doesn’t have time to feel like crap.

So your energy comes and goes in dizzying waves…one minute you’re racing around like a crazy lady, and the next minute you’re crashing, desperate for a nap.

But at night sometimes you can’t get to sleep… you lay there getting more and more frustrated as your brain runs in circles.

Some days at work, you stare at your computer unable to read anything… totally freaked out that you can’t focus.

You’re not alone...

If you’re like most of the clients I’ve worked with, I know how nuts this can make you feel!

You’ve wasted money on supplements that didn’t work, you’ve eaten well, and even fit in time to get to the gym.

Sometimes you do everything right, and you feel even MORE like garbage.  These are the most frustrating moments.

That’s where I come in.  I’m Brooke Seiz, functional medicine health coach, and I’m here to help you discover the root causes of your energy and mood issues, and provide the motivation for you to make lasting changes.

Read on for things that will boost your energy or steal your energy...

Here Are Four Strategies That Don’t Work
- Yet People Always Try Them Anyway:

1. Energy Drinks and Supplements

“What can I take for energy?”

This is a question that was posed to me on a weekly basis when I worked inside a health food store.  It’s amazing how many quick fixes there are out there for a burst of energy in the form of a drink or supplement.

Most of these are crap, and may actually make your problems worse.  Often they have caffeine, or stimulating herbs like Guarana. If you have HPA Axis issues… think adrenal fatigue, these may make you worse over time.

Over-stimulation is often part of how we got into this mess, and more of it just fuels the fire…

Energy drinks might taste good and get you going for a few hours, but they’re loaded with sugar, and if blood sugar problems are part of your issues, these drinks will just make you worse.

2.  Eat more whole grains and less sugar

This is the most common recommendation that my clients typically hear from conventional practitioners, and can often make energy problems worse.

Eating less sugar is always a good idea.  However, replacing sugar with high carbohydrate foods is not the solution.  If blood sugar imbalance is at the root of your wired ‘ups’ and tired ‘bonks’, you’ll stay on this awful ride, feeling crazy despite working hard to ‘eat right’.

Grains can be harder to digest and more inflammatory.  According to some experts, approximately 6-7% of the US population suffers from gluten sensitivity.  If these individuals eat whole wheat products, they will continue to suffer from adverse health symptoms even if they’re doing everything else right.

So, if you eat whole grains, and they’re a staple in your diet, there’s a possibility they’re playing a role in stealing your energy...

3.  Exercise More

Have you really gone for it at the gym, and the next day you feel more tired?  Getting exercise is incredibly important for your health, but sometimes more is not the answer.

If you have HPA Axis issues, which many people refer to as adrenal fatigue, your exercise could be working against you.

There’s something called exercise intolerance.  Imagine that your energy reserve, the energy you have to work with on a daily basis is a battery.  When that battery is at full charge, you can go to the gym and workout pretty hard, and still have energy left over for everything else you have to do in the day.

But, when your battery is running on low, if you draw too much energy from it, your battery will be empty.

One example of this is my friend Dana.  She was struggling to get out of bed every morning, and keep up with kids and work, and was also training for a marathon.  She noticed her energy getting worse and worse. She did do the marathon, but afterwards she swapped out her endurance training for other types of exercise, and noticed a great improvement in her energy over time.

Exercise is important, but more is typically not the answer to healing your daily energy problems.

4.  Do a Detox!

I’ve had so many clients come to me saying that they tried a detox to help give them energy, and it either did nothing, or made them feel worse.

A lot of the ‘detoxes’ out there involve eating nothing but sugary fruit juices for days.  Maybe they involve taking a bunch of supplements, but not addressing the diet.

Some may at least get you eating some healthier foods, so rah rah for those.  But, they don’t address the underlying reasons that you feel this way.

In some cases, the detox could involve higher sugar fruits, and if your blood sugar is already imbalanced, it could really throw you off kilter.  When this happens, people crash right back into their old way of healing, and feel even less motivated after using up energy to try one more thing that didn’t work.

Let’s talk about some things that
DO work to start getting your energy back….

 1. Replace sugary foods with protein and healthy fat

When your energy is coming and going, it is important to balance blood sugar.  When blood sugar spikes and crashes, it can make you feel like crap.

Try this for 3-days:

Eat something with 20-25 grams of protein at every meal, and around 10 grams with a snack if you eat snacks.  If this helps, you can up it to 30 grams of protein at breakfast to stabilize your blood sugar first thing in the morning.  Many of my clients find that this gives them more level energy throughout the day.

Also include healthy fat with your meals and snacks.  Some options to include are avocados or guacamole, nuts and seeds, olive oil, grassfed butter, or coconut oil.  Start to incorporate these into every meal and snack to replace sugary foods.

If you’re skeptical, one of my clients Lauren was the same way.  She was feeling tired & irritable all the time with brain fog, but after 3-days of testing this, she noticed a boost in energy and mental clarity.

2.  Take Magnesium Glycinate to get sleepy at bedtime

Sleep can be tricky on the days you feel overwhelmed and wired.

Try taking 400 mg of magnesium glycinate a couple hours before bed to help you unwind.

Some of the brands I recommend are Pure Encapsulations or Seeking Health.  You can usually find Garden of Life or KAL over the counter in health food stores, which are also options.

Magnesium is a calming mineral, supports muscle relaxation, and has a positive effect on neurotransmitters and brain health.

Most people don’t get enough of it in their diet, and I get really great feedback from my clients on how this helps them relax and sleep more deeply.  I even had one client tell me that her chronic back aches got 80% better when she added magnesium to her regime.

3.  Fix the Root Causes of your Energy, Mood, and Sleep Issues

There are many root causes that can lead you to feel this way.  Some people have one of these, and some people have several. I’ve even worked with a few who had nearly all of them.

It’s like peeling an onion.  Sometimes you peel it and the skin comes off in one go, and you get your answer right away.  Or sometimes you peel one layer off, and realize there’s another layer to peel off, and so on.

But eventually that onion is peeled, and you have all your answers.  And as you tune into your root causes, you can address them, and get your energy and vitality back again.

Even if you can’t remember the last time you felt good, I guarantee there’s an underlying reason for this. The 10 most common root causes of crappy energy, mood, and sleep are:

  1. Adrenal Fatigue (HPA Axis Dysfunction)

  2. Hormone imbalances

  3. Gut infections and dysbiosis

  4. Blood Sugar Imbalance

  5. Stress

  6. A poor diet, OR a healthy diet that isn’t right for you

  7. Neurotransmitter imbalances

  8. Nutrient deficiencies

  9. Toxins

  10. Food Allergies/Sensitivities

Finding out the root cause(s) can mean the difference between reclaiming your energy, or feeling stuck in the grind forever. There are proven tests and ways for you to figure out if you actually have these root causes.  It’s not a random guessing game. There’s actually a way for you to check for these issues and address them.

If you look back at your health history, which common root causes do you think you have?

Here’s How I can Help You
Reclaim The Energy You Deserve Today...

Relief will come when you heal the root causes. This process can be tedious, hard work when you’re going it alone.  Many people also come to me wishing they’d just gotten help earlier, as they wasted time and money guessing at what they needed.  They try different diets and supplements, often ending up worse off then when they started.

I am not exaggerating when I say that Brooke saved my life. Shortly after having my first son, my health started failing. I had zero energy, my hair was falling out and I was white as a ghost. I could barely get out of bed and felt so much sadness that this was how I was spending my first year with my baby. Exhausted, unwell, and unable to give him the mother he deserved.I saw every doctor under the sun over the course of 18 months or so and they found.....nothing wrong with me.

It was then that I happened to reconnect with Brooke as she had just moved to Denver. I told her what was going on and she immediately said, "I wonder if you have a food allergy". She started me on an elimination diet right away and guess what, she was right. With one suggestion, she was able to solve the puzzle that non of my medical doctors could. We diagnosed gluten to be the culprit, so I cut that out and took a handful of of supplements at Brooke's recommendation. It took a while to heal all the damage that had been done to my gut, but pretty soon I was back to my old self.

Years later, I had a similar experience with some odd bloating. I was again shipped around to my primary doctor, the OB, and the GI doc, only to be told nothing was wrong with me. One call to Brooke and she knew it had to be SIBO, which a test confirmed it was.

I am so grateful to have had somewhere to turn when everyone else thought I was crazy, when my symptoms seemed like something I would never recover from. To me, Brooke is an angel on earth, using her vast knowledge to heal the otherwise un-healable. Plus, she does it with humor and grace and is all around a wonderful person to have on your team.

I was having a terrible time getting relief from abdominal bloating and pain. I had gone to several practitioners with no relief. I went to see Brooke for menopause issues of memory loss and hot flashes, but was pleasantly surprised that she was the first person that I had talked to who really understood what I was going through and actually had advice and a plan that could help me. Not only have I been able to resolve my abdominal issues but also I have more energy, more focus, and my memory is so much better because of Brooke's knowledge and assistance. I have recommended Brooke to several people.
